Sassy and Lizzy (formerly Razzle and Fizzle) are 8 year old miniature horses that were donated to the ministry by their owner. These two bring lots of character to the herd and Sassy certainly lives up to her name while she is bossing the big horses around out in the pasture. The kids love these two and they have proven to be sweet, patient additions to the ranch through pampering, getting painted, and dressed up by many of the younger kids. They are currently in training and we hope to have them ridden soon.

Grace Alone

Grace is an 8 year old thoroughbred mare that was donated to the ranch after purchased from another horsemanship program. She is a sweet girl who just "fell through the cracks" so to speak and just wasn't a good fit for her previous home. We look forward to seeing how this gorgeous girl does in sessions this spring and summer!

Update : Skiver has moved on to a new lease home where he is being used in WAHSET and getting regular more advanced work.

Lacey

Macchi (Caramel Macchiato) is an 18 hh

8 year old Hanoverian gelding who was given to Wild at Heart Youth Ranch after a leg injury ended his competitive jumping career. This sweet boy has settled well into his new country life and is a favorite of several of our kids. When he isn't out grazing with the rest of the herd he enjoys participating in the riding portion of some of our weekly sessions and getting loved on by kids and staff.

Poppy

Lacey

Sundance is a palomino paint gelding that was donated to us from some great friends and supporters of the ranch. He has experience working in other camp programs and loves being ridden. His first summer here at the ranch has been great as he has gotten acquainted with all the youth ranch kiddos and begun working in sessions with some of them.

Cricket

Poppyseed is a 7 year old appaloosa mare. She was a rescue horse from Whatcom county and when she was brought in from animal control had a young filly still nursing. About two months after her adoption she surprised us with another baby... this time a colt! They both are happily living on the ranch with their herd buddies where Poppy maintains her position as herd boss. Poppy is currently in training as Mattie's personal project, and once she has more experience under saddle will make a great horse for our ranch kids.

TR

Macchi

Harley is the surprise colt that Poppy had after we brought her home.. our very own miracle baby. Harley is 3 years old and currently stands about 15.2 and is still growing. He is starting training this year and once he is trained and has more miles and experience under his belt will begin working with our other horses doing sessions. Check out the gallery if you would like to see some of Harley's baby pictures. (He was pretty adorable!)

Lacey

TR (Tusken Raider - aka Rodney) is an 18 year old miniature donkey who was donated to the ranch when his owners moved and didn't have a place to keep him any longer. This little guy was pretty shy when he got here, and not used to a ton of attention, but with continued socialization and some extra pampering every now and then he is learning to trust new people more. We think he is a pretty adorable addition to our herd!

Sassy and Lizzy

Cricket is what we believe to be a Morgan/Arab cross that is probably  somewhere around 11 or 12 years old. She was a rescue from Skagit county and it is hard to say for sure due to lack of records.  She had been left without food or water while nursing a foal, and was severely ill when Animal Control took custody of her. After settling in here at the Ranch, and learning to trust, she has thrived and become a completely different little horse. At 14.2 hh she is the smallest of our full sized horses and she loves her job working with some of our younger students.

Candy

Lacey is a 15 year old quarter horse mare that came to us with a rotated coffin bone

in her right front hoof. Her owner felt she was out of treatment options and was

about to put her down when we heard about her. Fortunately we were able to bring her here to the ranch and have since realized that her health problems were the result of insulin resistance and obesity.

With a new diet and corrective trimming Lacey is consistently improving.  We look forward to hopefully introducing this sweet, playful girl as a ridable session horse in the near future.

Candy is a 17 year old Quarter horse mare.

She was Mattie's first horse and was the one God used to inspire the dream to start Wild at Heart, so she holds a very special place at the ranch. Candy loves her job working with kids, and her bombproof and patient, gentle (and sometimes stubborn) nature make her priceless to our program.

When she isn't working with kids she's hanging out with her buddies and is usually the one starting the playful shenanigans in the herd. She is currently the oldest of our full sized horses but she certainly doesn't know it.
